Biography
Cameron Smith is a doctoral student at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology at Xavier University of Louisiana, where he also received his master’s degree in clinical psychology. In addition to completing his educational requirements, he also has received extensive clinical training in providing mental health services to New Orleans’ diverse community. Cameron has worked with children, adolescents, adults, LGBTQIA+ members, and veterans on variety of presenting concerns, such as mood disorders, neurodevelopmental concerns, PTSD, and interpersonal/relational difficulties.
Cameron’s approach to therapy is values-focused, meaning that therapy focuses on identifying one’s personal value system and facilitating engagement in activities that are personally important. He strives to create a collaborative and trusting therapeutic environment that is centered around one’s strengths and gaining insight into one’s thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Cameron strives to create a non-judgmental space for clients to share openly and to learn skills of how to effectively cope in times of distress. Cameron enjoys music, biking, playing with his cats, and traveling.
