New Undergraduate Students

Welcome to Tulane! Campus Health services are catered specifically for you! We are devoted to providing you with the optimum care for all your needs. Our locations are conveniently located near your classes and residence hall. In addition, our office schedules and after-hours services are designed to fit around your busy schedules. Before you dive in to the website for health tips, services, and support, please use this check list for required and recommended first steps. 

Students Beginning in Fall 2017

___ Check your Tulane email regularly.

___ July 15: Deadline to submit your immunization compliance forms and records to The Health Center via the Patient Portal. 

___ July 5: Check your Tulane email for health insurance requirements and details. You must either enroll in the Tulane-sponsored Student Health Insurance Plan (T-SHIP) or complete the waiver process to use a comparable health insurance. It's best to do this before you arrive on campus. 

  • Take action online to either enroll in or waive (opt-out) the Tulane-sponsored Student Health Insurance Plan (T-SHIP).  
  • The enrollment/waiver process ends on the final drop/add date, Sept. 8, 2017.
  • If you do not take action, you will be automatically enrolled in T-SHIP, and the premium will be charged to your account.

___ July 24: Check your Tulane email for instructions on completing three required, online wellness courses (Alcohol, Mental Health, and Sexual Violence). You have until August 24 to finish these online courses.

___ Connect with a community therapist or psychiatrist for ongoing concerns before arriving in New Orleans. Contact the CAPS Care Coordinator if you need assistance.

___ Call our on-campus Pharmacy to transfer your prescriptions.

Family Discussion Items

___ Discuss any personal and family medical histories.

___ Make note of any seasonal, food, or drug allergies.

___ Come up with a plan for prescription medication management.

___ Talk about alcohol and drugs. Review the Tulane Alcohol Policy for information and resources.

___ Make sure to have a medicine and first aid kit for your room on campus.
