Monthly BLS CPR Class

Tulane EMS CPR instructors offer a monthly BLS CPR class during each month that Tulane is in session. The class is offered on the first Saturday of the month and it begins at noon. These classes are limited for space and are first come first serve. Anyone who is unable to sign up for the current month’s class will be added to a waitlist for the following month.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers Training (certification) ($60 a person) - Healthcare providers who complete this course will be able to apply BLS concepts to the Chain of Survival, recognize the signs of an individual requiring CPS and perform high-quality CPR for adults, children and infants. Participants will earn a course completion card from the American Heart Association. BLS certifications are valid for two years from the date of the course.

This class takes about 3 hours and upon completion students will receive their BLS CPR certificate and e-card (included in the class price).

Tulane EMS Training Offerings

The students of Tulane EMS and their coordinator Heather Scianneaux, NREMT-P, offer First Aid, AED, and CPR Training for Tulane University-affiliated groups and departments. Below is the list of courses offered:

  • Narcan Administration Training** (non-certification) - This course will cover how to identify and treat opioid overdoses with over-the-counter Narcan.
  • Stop the Bleed** (non-certification) ($20 a person) - This course will cover how to recognize life-threatening bleeding and act quickly and effectively to control bleeding with three quick techniques. (Certification classes available upon special request)
  • Hands Only CPR** (non-certification) - This course will cover how to perform compression-only CPR on adults and infants.
  • AED (non-certification) ($10 a person) - This course will cover how to apply and used an AED on adults and infants as well as how to perform compression-only CPR.
  • First Aid Training (certification) ($80 a person) - This course will cover how to treat the most common medical concerns such as allergic reactions, asthma-related emergencies, diabetes-related emergencies, and opioid overdoses. It will also cover how to treat trauma emergencies such as sprains, broken bones, and burns.
  • Heartsaver CPR/AED Training (certification) - This course provides comprehensive CPR and AED instruction, and participants will earn a course completion card from the American Heart Association. The curriculum can be customized depending on your organization’s needs and the age group you serve.
    • Adult only ($100 a person)
    • Pediatric/infant only ($100 a person)
    • Adult/pediatric/infant ($120 a person)
  • Heartsaver Adult, Child and Infant First Aid/CPR/AED Training (certification) - This course includes basic CPR, first aid and AED training. The curriculum can be customized depending on your organization’s needs and the age group you serve. Participants will earn a course completion card from the American Heart Association.
    • Adult only ($100 a person)
    • Pediatric/infant only ($100 a person)
    • Adult/pediatric/infant ($120 a person)

Certification classes take about three hours to complete. Non-certification classes take about 10 to 30 minutes to complete.
