NOTICE: ALL Campus Health services will be CLOSED from 12:00-1:00pm every business day starting May 20th and lasting through August 9th.

A note to spring 2024 graduating students with the Tulane-sponsored Student Health Insurance Plan (T-SHIP):

  • Even though you're graduating in May, your T-SHIP coverage lasts until Aug. 18.
  • If you need additional time on T-SHIP beyond Aug. 18, you can request an extension of up to 90 days. This request should be submitted through the Gallagher portal.
  • You have access to Campus Health services through May 31, but starting in June, you'll need to find another source for healthcare services.
  • If you're going to be living within 30 miles of New Orleans after graduation and while your T-SHIP coverage is active, notify healthins@tulane.edu, so we can remove the referral requirement from your coverage.

Medicaid Resources

University Health Insurance Waiver Requirements

Louisiana Medicaid meets the University’s standards for adequate insurance. This means students with Louisiana Medicaid are eligible to opt out of the Tulane-Sponsored Health Insurance Plan (T-SHIP) by receiving an approved waiver request.

How to opt out of T-SHIP

Medicaid and Campus Health Services

Students with Louisiana Medicaid can use the Health Center for Student Care, uptown or downtown.

The Health Center for Student Care is not a Medicaid provider. We are able to provide healthcare visits and some limited procedures to Louisiana Medicaid recipients at both the Uptown and Downtown locations. If we cannot provide a needed service, a referral coordinator will assist you with finding a provider to meet your needs. Referral coordination is a service we provide to all Tulane students.

LaHIPP Pilot Program

The Louisiana Health Insurance Premium Payment Program (LaHIPP) is for individuals who currently have Louisiana Medicaid and are eligible to enroll in a private health insurance plan. It is a private health insurance reimbursement program meaning that the program covers the cost of the private health insurance's premium, deductibles, and copays.

All Tulane students are eligible to enroll in private health insurance through Tulane. Therefore, students who have Louisiana Medicaid meet the criteria to apply for LaHIPP.
