Biography
Ryan (he/him) is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Board Approved Clinical Supervisor. He received his B.A. in History and Women and Gender Studies and his Master of Social Work from Louisiana State University (LSU). Born and raised in Greater New Orleans, Ryan has worked in both community-based mental healthcare and university counseling providing individual and family therapy. He utilizes a Person in Environment (PIE) and strengths-based framework. This means understanding and appreciating both the role one’s environment impacts their life as well as the individual qualities one possesses to create change. His theoretical orientation includes Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and feminist theory. Ryan is uniquely aware of the structural inequalities and historical failures of the mental health field to reach marginalized and diverse communities. As a result, he seeks a therapeutic relationship that is egalitarian, de-stigmatized, and culturally responsive. Ryan’s values include compassion, persistence, and authenticity.
