First Aid, AED, and CPR Training

The students of Tulane EMS and their coordinator Heather Scianneaux, NREMT-P, offer First Aid, AED, and CPR Training for Tulane University-affiliated groups and departments. Below is the list of courses offered:

  • AED Training - This course will cover how and when to use an automated external defribrilator (AED).
  • First Aid Training - This course will cover how to treat the most common medical concerns such allergic reactions, asthma-related emergencies and diabetes-related emergencies. It will also cover how to treat trauma emergencies such as sprains, broken bones and burns.
  • Adult, Child and Infant First Aid/CPR/AED Training (non-certification) - This course includes basic CPR, first aid and AED training. The curriculum can be customized depending on your organization’s needs and the age group you serve.
  • Heartsaver CPR/AED Training (certification) - This course provides comprehensive CPR and AED instruction, and participants will earn a course completion card from the American Heart Association. The curriculum can be customized depending on your organization’s needs and the age group you serve.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers Training (certification) -  Healthcare providers who complete this course will be able to apply BLS concepts to the Chain of Survival, recognize the signs of an individual requiring CPS and perform high-quality CPR for adults, children and infants. Participants will earn a course completion card from the American Heart Association. BLS certifications are valid for two years from the date of the course.
