Support Groups
First Year Transition
Fridays 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Uptown CAPS
Designed for first year students, Freshman Transition Group provides a safe space to explore adjustment-related issues—social concerns, loneliness, academic difficulties, etc.—and receive support in the midst of the significant life transition from high school into college.
Womanist Evolution
Thursdays 3:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Carolyn Barber Pierre Center for Intercultural Life (Richardson 115)
Womanist Evolution is a liberated sister circle that provides an authentic, confidential space for female-identified students of color to share their lived experiences, receive support and encouragement, and learn strategies that promote empowerment, compassion, and healing in divine community. In this group students will learn to manage stress, build growth fostering relationships, and transform stress feelings into positive self-discovery.
Journey of Grief and Loss
Wednesdays 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Telehealth, via Zoom
The Journey of Grief and Loss support group focuses on giving students a space to learn, think about, and discuss grief in a supportive environment. Students will be able to talk about what grief and death mean to them, learn what the grieving process can look like, how to set healthy boundaries, and more. Prescreening required. Group conducted via Zoom.
Express Yourself: LGBTQIA+ Support Group for Graduate Students (Downtown)
Fridays 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Dates: September 20th, September 27th, October 11th, October 18th, November 8th, November 15th, November 22nd, November 25th
Join us for this 8-week support group for LGBTQIA+ graduate students at Tulane. We will explore topics such as dating, relationships with family, and the intersectionality of our identities. This group will include the use of art and creative expression as a way to make meaning of our experiences. Snacks and materials will be provided!
Survivors
Wednesdays 2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. [starting September 25]
Uptown CAPS
This weekly group provides a space for survivors of sexual trauma to process the individual and relational impacts of trauma. Group participants provided opportunities to learn more about sexual trauma and the impacts on views of self and relationships with others, process experiences, learn helpful skills for navigating trauma reactivity in everyday life, and explore how to build and sustain positive, nourishing, and empowering relationships to self and others after trauma. Group is facilitated by Dr. Maria D. Vazquez and incorporates an intersectional, culturally-sensitive, and LGBTQ+ affirming framework. All genders welcome. Pre-screening required.
Skills-Based Groups
Mindful Mondays
Mondays 11:00 a.m. – 11:50 a.m. [Starting August 26]
Uptown CAPS
Mindful Mondays is a mindfulness skills-based group designed to introduce undergraduate students to mindful breathing, movement, and meditation practices as a way of reducing stress and anxiety, increase body and mind-awareness, and develop emotional regulation skills. No experience in mindfulness is required to participate. This group is ideal for students struggling with stress, anxiety, or those that are simply looking for ways to relax and cultivate a deeper connection with themselves. Students can attend as many or as few sessions as they would like.
