Campus Health welcomes new students to Tulane! Our staff is devoted to providing you with excellent medical and mental health care, and our facilities are conveniently located near your classes and residence halls. As you prepare for your first semester at Tulane, please use this checklist to help you stay on top of required and recommended first steps.
For Students Beginning in Spring 2025
Before You Arrive
___ Check your Tulane email regularly.
___ December 4: Health Insurance Action Process Begins - After you enroll in classes, please monitor your Tulane email for health insurance requirements and details. You must either enroll in the Tulane-sponsored Student Health Insurance Plan (T-SHIP) or complete the waiver process to opt out of T-SHIP before you arrive to campus or by the posted deadline, whichever is earliest. Newly enrolled international students are required to enroll in T-SHIP.
___ Mid-December: Required Wellness Courses Available - Check your Tulane email for instructions on completing five required online wellness courses about alcohol, sexual violence prevention, mental wellbeing, sexual health and sexual literacy. You have until January 13 to finish these online courses.
___ January: If you have ongoing mental health needs or concerns, connect with a community therapist or psychiatrist before arriving in New Orleans. Contact the CAPS Care Coordinator if you need assistance connecting with a local provider.
___ January: Transfer your prescriptions to our on-campus Pharmacy.
___ January 15: Health Insurance Action Deadline - This is the deadline to either enroll in or opt out of the Tulane-sponsored Student Health Insurance Plan (T-SHIP). If you do not take action by this date, you will be automatically enrolled in T-SHIP, and the non-refundable premium will be charged to your account. No action is required for newly enrolled international students, as you will be automatically enrolled in T-SHIP.
___ January 13: Completion Deadline for Required Wellness Courses - Before the first day of classes, January 13, you will need to have completed the five required online wellness courses that were introduced in December.
___ February 15: Immunization Compliance Deadline - This is the deadline to submit your completed Tulane immunization compliance form and/or vaccine records via the Patient Portal. Tulane must have evidence of a student’s compliance with the state guidelines for immunizations. Failure to meet these requirements will result in a registration hold being placed on your student account, which will bar you from dropping or adding classes in the Spring semester and/or enrolling for Fall semester classes.
