University Health Insurance Waiver Requirements
Louisiana Medicaid meets the University’s standards for adequate insurance. This means students with Louisiana Medicaid are eligible to opt out of the Tulane-Sponsored Health Insurance Plan (T-SHIP) by receiving an approved waiver request.
Medicaid and Campus Health Services
The Health Center for Student Care is a Medicaid provider. We provide healthcare services to Louisiana Medicaid recipients at both the Uptown and Downtown locations.
LaHIPP Pilot Program
The Louisiana Health Insurance Premium Payment Program (LaHIPP) is for individuals who currently have Louisiana Medicaid and are eligible to enroll in a private health insurance plan. It is a private health insurance reimbursement program meaning that the program covers the cost of the private health insurance's premium, deductibles, and copays.
All Tulane students are eligible to enroll in private health insurance through Tulane. Therefore, students who have Louisiana Medicaid meet the criteria to apply for LaHIPP.
