Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS)
Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS) is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and affirming community of care for all Tulane students. Our team of trained professionals is committed to fostering students’ personal, emotional, and academic growth. We offer an array of services which enable students to develop new skills to improve their mental health and overall well-being. CAPS is available in-person or virtually, depending on student preference.
Services
Individual Therapy
You and your therapist will work together to help you manage your distress and move toward mental well-being.
Group Therapy
Interpersonal and support groups help students form communities with other students with similar concerns.
Psychiatry Services
Psychiatry providers offer short-term, stabilization-focused medication management care.
Outreach and Prevention Services
Workshops for students and faculty on a variety of mental health and wellness topics.
Virtual Self-Help Tools
Therapy-assisted and self-guided virtual mental health resources for ongoing mental wellness support.
24/7 Crisis Support
Same-day emergency consultations and a 24/7 crisis support line is available for students anytime.
Consultations for Faculty and Staff
Faculty and staff working with a distressed student can reach out to us for assistance.
Care Coordination
The Care Coordinator assists students with identifying mental health providers in the New Orleans community.

Counseling Records
Request a release of your counseling service records to another healthcare provider, entity or yourself.
How to Get Started
Your first visit with CAPS will be a consultation session. A clinician will discuss with you any mental health concerns you have and help determine whether resources from CAPS, external campus partners or the community might be helpful to you.
