Getting Started

Initial Consultation

Your first visit with the Counseling Center will be a consultation session during which we can get to know you a bit and you can learn about us. Here is what to expect:

  • All initial consultations are scheduled on a same-day basis. Appointments for the day open up at 7:30 a.m.
  • Schedule your appointment for that day using the Campus Health Patient Portal or by calling the Counseling Center during business hours.
  • Once your appointment is scheduled, you will be asked to complete some paperwork ahead of time in the Patient Portal.
  • Initial consultations will be conducted via Healthcare Zoom, which has higher privacy protection than regular Zoom. Your consulting therapist will send you a Zoom link for the session via the Patient Portal.
  • You will also need to check in for your session 20 minutes prior to start time to complete the paperwork.
  • Your initial consultation will last approximately 45 minutes. You and the therapist will discuss your concerns and collaborate on a plan for next steps, which could include:
