CAPS is dedicated to providing high-quality mental health care services to Tulane students. However, we recognize that some students will have needs beyond the scope and/or capacity of what CAPS is able to provide. This is where our Care Coordinator comes in. The Care Coordinator's role is to connect Tulane students to appropriate external mental health care resources.
Services Offered by the Care Coordinator
- assistance with identifying appropriate clinicians in the New Orleans community
- follow-up check-ins to ensure connection and engagement in treatment
- help in getting connected with a community provider.
The Care Coordinator also acts as a centralized point of contact for students, families, and providers who raise questions or concerns about the referral process or who need access to our up-to-date campus and community referral databases.

Incoming Students Needing Ongoing Mental Health Care
Incoming students who are currently receiving mental health care treatment (ex: ADHD medication or other psychiatric medication) and will need consistent care over an extended period, are encouraged to establish care with a community provider prior to arriving at Tulane. The Care Coordinator can assist you even before you begin your first semester. Contact them in advance to ensure a smooth transition when you arrive in New Orleans.
